Setting up of Parent Councils

The Scottish Schools (Parental Involvement) Act makes provision for all parents to be members of the Parent Forum at their child's school. Parents views will be represented to the school, education department and others through a representative Parent Council at the school.     

The intention behind the new legislation is to support parental involvement in a much wider sense than before. It aims to help all parents to be:

• Involved with their child's education and learning

• Welcomed as active participants in the life of the school

• Encouraged to express their views on school education generally and work in partnership with the school

A Working Party made up of parents and school staff met to draw up a constitution for the Cross Arthurlie Parent Council. Parent Council Constitution

Our Parent Council

The following people have been elected to serve as office bearers for the 2010/2011 school year:

Mrs Nuzhat Uthmani, Fundraising Convener.

Parent Council meetings are open to all parents. The meetings for the school year will be held in the Conference Room/Library at Barrhead High School (with the exception of the AGM, which will be held at Cross Arthurlie Primary School).  Dates and times for meetings are available from the school office.
