Pupil Achievements
At Cross Arthurlie, we believe in the Positive reinforcement of recognising hard work, determination and achievement.
Once a month, Mrs Frew delivers a very special 'Head Teachers' award, more commonly known as The Good Citizens Award. All class teachers have to select an individual pupil and recommended him or her to Mrs Frew. Mrs Frew strongly believes that it is also very important to recognise non academic achievements. The nominated child might have set a good example of behaviour, helped out other individuals or even worked beyond their normal capacity.
As well as this, all teachers select three pupils to receive a 'Stage Award' in which each childs achievements are recognised at an assembly in front of their peers.
All teachers also use various forms of recognising hard work and effort within the class. Point systems and winning stickers are just two examples of the instant recognition of achievement that teachers use.
Enforcing rewards and sanctions via awards systems is a great way to both encourage and discipline pupils, and it also gives them the opportunity to share their success with those around them.
